  17. Due to security limitations the location of IPSentry registry
  18. entries has been moved from HKEY_CURRENT_USER to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

  20. The proper steps to upgrading from a previous version of IPSentry
  21. are as follows:
  22.  
  23. 1.      Export Settings
  24.         From the Options/Properties menu, select Export Settings.
  25.         Specify a file and continue on.
  26.  
  27. 2.      Uninstall previous version of IPSentry.
  28.         Do this via Control Panel / Add Remove Software
  29.  
  30. 3.      Install IPSentry v 3.0 by executing IPSET30.EXE
  31.  
  32. 4.      Once complete, start IPSentry
  33.  
  34. 5.      Import Settings
  35.         From the Options/Properties menu, select Import Settings.
  36.         Select the file you previously used to export settins.
  37.         Your machine settings will be imported.
  38.  
  39. 6.      Restart IPSentry
  40.

  44.     Hardware Settings (TAPI Modem Selection)

  51. How to install IPSentry as a System Service under Windows NT
  52. If you are not familiar with NT Services, ingore the following
  53. because you probably don't care about IPSentry as a service
  54. rather than a desktop app.
  55. ===============================================================
  56. The following steps should only be completed after you have
  57. properly installed and configured IPSentry.
  58.  
  59. From the directory in which you installed IPSentry.
  60.  
  61. IPSentry -install [-auto] | -uninstall
  62.  
  63. Where:  -install        =       Install IPSentry as a System Service
  64.         -auto           =       Set service startup mode to Automatic
  65.                                 You can change this in service settings
  66.                                 from control panel.
  67.         -uninstall      =       Uninstall IPSentry as a System Service
  68.  
  69. You can either do a NET START IPSENTRY from the command prompt, restart
  70. your system, or start the service from Services in Control Panel.
  71.  
  72. *Note: Don't set IPSentry to interact with desktop.  If you do, IPSentry
  73.        will be stopped if you logout and log back in without a system
  74.        restart.

  79. IPSET30.EXE is a self extracting setup utility.  Just run it
  80. and follow the prompts.  The defaults should suffice.

  86. IPSentry is a Windows NT / 95 utility that will continuously monitor all
  87. your internet and intranet TCP/IP services 24 hours a day, ensuring, your
  88. email servers, web site, ftp server, news server, and all other TCP/IP
  89. services are responding correctly.  In the event of failure, IPSentry will
  90. notify you (according to the defined schedule) via all or 1 of several
  91. different methods.

  96. Before you install
  97. -------------------
  98. You should have TCP/IP networking protocol up and functioning before
  99. attempting to configure IPSentry.  Obviously, without the TCP/IP stack
  100. available, IPSentry will NOT function properly.

  102. If you plan on using the Pager Alert, you will need to have a TAPI device
  103. configured (a modem) prior to IPSentry configuration.
  104. (See the MODEMS applet in the control panel).

  109. IPSET22.EXE is a self extracting WinZip archive.  If you have extracted all the files
  110. manually (from IPSET22.EXE), simply execute Setup.EXE, otherwise, execute IPSET22.EXE.
